ViewPoint 3D intros new solid-state digital signage media player

November 19, 2013

U.K.-based ViewPoint 3D Ltd. has introduced its new series of ePC SolidState PowerCore embedded computers for digital signage.

The company's ePC embedded multidisplay computers offer 24/7 performance with a 10-year life guarantee, and use the latest quad-core A10 APU to provide full-HD video and graphics performance on up to three independent full-HD screens, according to a company announcement.

The ePC is a solid-state and ruggedized system, able to drive the latest monitors up to quad high-definition resolution, the company said, and is compatible with ViewPoint-3D signage and presentation software.

The ePC-A10 can drive up to three independent monitors in both 2D and 3D modes at full-HD resolution and is designed to maintain full performance across all screens. The ePCs employ a high-performance SATA-III solid-state drive with zero mechanical wear, which means it should provide MTBFs of 2 million hours, and uses an efficient switch-mode PSU to consume from just 4 to 110 watts, the company said.

ViewPoint said the new ePC-A10 is "unique" in that it uses the latest A10 APU to enable one PC unit to run three large-format 1920-by-1080 full-HD monitors with independent content on each screen.

Combined with the ViewPoint-3D software, the ePC-A10 becomes a full 3D-graphics system, the company said, capable of producing live-data 3D animated playback on standard 2D screens as well as glasses-free 3D screens, enabling 3D that automatically updates from remote data feeds.
