TOKYO — Panasonic unveiled its 150-inch plasma display panel, the largest in the world, during the International Flat Panel Display Expo held at the Tokyo Big Sight. Those in the US were able to see the gigantic plasma at the 2008 CES show in Las Vegas.

The screen is roughly 6 feet tall by 11 feet wide. The plasma display boasts of a resolution of 4,096 x 2,160 pixels, a total of 8.84 million pixels, which is roughly four times that of full high-definition plasma displays.

Panasonic anticipates that providing an entirely new image viewing experience not possible with conventional displays will cultivate an even greater demand for plasma display panels.

As was the case at CES, the product release date and price have not yet been determined, but Panasonic intends to continue pursuing large screen, high-definition displays that can only be achieved with plasma technology.
