Digital signage solutions provider UCView has announced free access to download and try its digital signage server software, which will be available in multiple languages worldwide across Windows and Linux platforms.

"Based on the needs of UCView's end-users," the company said, "the free digital signage server download option will help restructure how digital signage is targeted to consumers."

The UCView platform is hardware independent, the company said, giving users the freedom to purchase digital signage hardware from UCView or run the downloaded software on their own players. This idea is keeping in line with the company's philosophy of giving customers the freedom to choose a solution which fits them best.

"We have a large number of users with varying levels of technical experience. Digital signage companies often forget that the main purpose of digital signage is communication. As a provider, we need to make sure that our consumers are getting just what they want without making the process difficult and unnecessarily expensive," UCView CEO Guy Avital said in the announcement. "Offering our end-users the opportunity to download a server for free will help mitigate the tedious task of setting up a digital signage network."

The concept of a free demo server was created based on customer demands, the company said. End-users will be able to choose whether to utilize a Windows or Linux server through the player client software (also available for download). The client will be able to support multiple operating systems, such as Windows, Linux or ARM.

Consumers will have full enterprise-level content control and management while using the server demo. After the trial period is over, users can continue using the software on their own server and pay a monthly subscription just as they would for a SaaS subscription service.

The key features offered in UCView's "Try for Free" platform include:

  • An interface designed to be intuitive and user-friendly as well as easy to navigate offers a platform providing features and functions that allow users to create, modify and deploy content within a secure environment.
  • Access to operating systems on multiple players that can be selected based on the knowledge and comfort-level of the end-user.
  • Free access to a digital signage content store with more than 90 widely used applications.
  • Media RSS feature that fetches media content from online sources and has the ability to save it — making the content playable offline.

The solution is aimed at helping end-users improve operational efficiency and promote their business by communicating much needed messages to their target audiences by creating location-targeted ads and integrating free content from numerous sources such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and more, the company said. End-users can create anything from digital menu boards to touchscreen-ready ads, while assigning access rights for different user groups, creating on-the-fly analysis reports and monitoring the health of each player on the network from the dashboard, UCView said.
