According to ZDNet's gadget reviews blog, Toshiba Mobile Displays has come up with a 21-inch HD panel that is ready for autostereoscopic 3D — in other words, "3D without glasses."
Toshiba Mobile Display has incorporated autostereoscopic technology to project in 3D without requiring viewers to be using 3D glasses to get the full experience. This isn't always easy to achieve, however, as the employment of 3D glasses is also there to reduce eye fatigue, which can sometimes be the problem with auto-stereoscopic screens.
The developers of this 1280×800 resolution panel have worked to reduce the problem of eye fatigues by implementing a lens sheet to reduce luminance intensity and a "multi-parallax approach" that creates smoother images and broadens the viewing angle, according to blog poster Rachel King. The panel is scheduled to be on display at next month's Society for Information Display 2010 conference in Seattle.
