StrandVision enhances databases for digital signage networks

November 4, 2013

StrandVision Digital Signage recently announced enhanced database capabilities and database consulting services to help its customers display dynamic digital signage content information over their electronic sign networks.

The enhancements are designed to make it easy for administrators to input, organize and graphically display business marketing and corporate information, such as inventory and warehouse control information, events, real estate listings, birthdays and count down/count up duration tracking, the company said in its announcement.

The StrandVision Digital Signage customizable database now features user-selectable text and background colors for each record that can be filtered based on the status of the event priority or proximity, the company said. The elapsed duration time automatically displays minutes, hours and days from the date entered for each record that counts up or down on the digital media player display, depending on the application. In addition, information can be set up to be selected for display only as an event approaches; for instance, a database of employee birthdates or service anniversaries can be set to display only anniversaries within a month, week or some other defined timeframe before or after the current playback time.

Different StrandVision Digital Signage pages can display different views of a single database based on user configured filters. For instance, incoming shipments and outgoing shipments can both be entered in the same user-defined database but displayed on separate digital signage content pages using preconfigured selection criteria. Another example would be Realtors who can select to display different content pages for house prices within price ranges, such as setting pages for >$100,000 to <$150,000, etc.

In another enhancement, StrandVision has expanded its digital signage database display with natural sort capabilities to embed HTML reports within the customer's own Web page, the company said, to distribute real-time performance to managers' computer displays and mobile devices without programming using the customer's existing Internet or intranet Web page.

"Most of these enhancements can be easily set up by any authorized StrandVision Digital Signage user on the StrandVision cloud portal," said Mike Strand, StrandVision founder and CEO, in the announcement. "Yet, we also offer low-cost database design and integration services for more sophisticated applications that are integrated in real-time with corporate databases and systems."
