Spotmedia launches 150-screen network in Saudi Arabia

May 28, 2007

EXTON, Penn. — Spotmedia, the largest digital signage network operator in the Middle East, announced the deployment of dynamic digital signage for Mobily, the new mobile service provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mobily, the official brand name of Etihad Etisalat, was looking for a solution that would serve as a visual communications tool for their customers and function as an alternative media system at the same time. Scala InfoChannel visual communications software suite was chosen to drive the digital signage network for the major telecommunication company.

Corporately branded as the Mobily Channel, the digital signage network currently runs in 64 locations across Saudi Arabia. Computers power over 150 display screens via Scala InfoChannel Player software and Scala InfoChannel Network Manager in the respective venues. The network uses 42-inch and 71-inch plasma screens and rear projection video walls positioned at the client service sections to broadcast text, video and graphics with information on Mobily's latest products, services and promotions. Mobily Channel is also integrated with the queuing system of the service centers and scheduling is incorporated to indicate the Muslims' prayer times as well as to display special announcements.

The Mobily Channel is developed and managed by Jeddah-based digital signage company Spotmedia, who played an instrumental role in providing the complete solution from installation, deployment and content development to managing the channel. Be Digital Sdn Bhn, in partnership with Click Grafix, creates customized and relevant content to the Mobily Channel. The content is sent to all the networked showrooms and runs in 28.6 minute loops throughout the day.
