Signbox partners with Intel on cinema digital signage project

April 10, 2013

Signbox Microsystems, an Asian digital signage solution provider, has partnered with Intel Corp. to bring scalability to Golden Village Cinemas' digital signage system.

According to a news release, the new system combines Signbox's digital signage software with an Intel Atom processor and Intel's open pluggable specification technology to replace traditional movie collaterals such as paper posters and plastic box office and concession signage.

"Through this digital signage system, Golden Village customers can now enjoy full HD movie trailers, animated e-posters and attention-grabbing advertising content," Stuart Lakin, business development at Signbox, said in the release.

Through Intel's OPS, the system will standardize the design and development of digital signage devices and pluggable media players, the company said, which simplifies installation, ongoing usage and future upgrades while minimizing costs. The Atom processor supports a high-definition digital signage network with clear graphics that can be easily updated and maintained.

The centralized system, covering a network of 25 digital screens, has reduced total cost of ownership by 10 percent and lowered ongoing costs on reprinting and repositioning of movie posters, the company said.

Golden Village spokesman Justin Ng said his company wanted to replace its old system with "the most modern digital signage system possible, which presented a more up-to-date, stylish way to attract moviegoers."

Golden Village has worked with Signbox since 2004, and the digital signage partner has supported Golden Village branches throughout Singapore, the company said.
