Robotic kiosk barista utilizes transparent OLED screens

Crown Digital, which provides a robotic self-serve coffee kiosk in Singapore, has integrated transparent OLED screens from LG Information Display Singapore to display order preparation, according to a LinkedIn report.

The Ella kiosk, developed by Singapore coffee shop owner Ketih Tan, displays the customer's order being prepared by a robotic barista. Tan noted that he wanted to provide an immersive customer experience.

Ella runs on a constellation of Intel parts, including an Intel Movidius vision processing unit, the Intel Distribution of OpenVINO toolkit and Intel Xeon and Intel Core processors, according to an Intel press release. The kiosk takes orders on a touchscreen or remotely via an app, and notifies the customer when it's ready, serves it and charges the customer's credit card.
