Digital signage software provider RevelDigital is introducing a new solution for digital signage based on the Intel Reference Design for Digital Signage designed for entry-level usages, according to a company announcement. The RevelDigital management platform for Android and MS Windows will be fully compatible with the entry-level digital signage media players based on the reference design from Intel, the company said.
The new Intel reference design for digital signage, EL10, features the latest Intel Atom processor E3815, a fanless low-power design and support for multiple operating systems including Android 4.4, Microsoft Windows and Linux. Targeted toward the entry-level digital signage market, these new Intel solutions provide a low-cost turnkey option for end-users.
RevelDigital said it has been developing its software to take full advantage of Android on low-power devices. According to the software provider, this newest generation of Intel hardware will help strengthen the role of Android and Windows 8 in the digital signage marketplace by providing a common, low-power, low-cost platform for both operating systems. RevelDigital will be a software provider for the new EL10 hardware and will be offering packaged solutions through ODMs such as Gigabyte and JWIPC, among others to be announced, the announcement said.
"We immediately saw the benefit of Android for digital signage and pushed our team to develop feature parity with our Windows software," RevelDigital CTO Mike Tinnes said in the announcement. "Since then Android has taken the lead in our new deployments for its reliability and affordability."
RevelDigital said its platform provides all the tools necessary to create and manage a large scale digital signage network while being completely Web based and service oriented.
