Planar launches all-in-one digital signage, kiosk systems

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Planar Systems Inc. has announced the launch of two new all-in-one hardware and software solutions; a new integrated digital sign and a second-generation integrated kiosk.
The integrated digital signage system, the Planar iS40 is a 40-inch LCD screen that combines thermal management, 700 nits hi-brightness, 50,000 hour backlight and .6-inch bezel with Planar's CoolSign digital signage software solution. The system comes with Windows XP Embedded processing, optional Wi-Fi features, and all the networking components needed for integrators to set up digital signs in either portrait or landscape mode throughout multiple locations. The "plug-and-play" appliance only requires AC power and an Ethernet connection for easy set-up.
The next generation Planar DS15 is an all-in-one kiosk solution combining a heat-tempered, scratch-resistant IR touchscreen and high-bright 550 nits display with an operating system and software suite that enables businesses to easily incorporate their creative assets such as JPG, HTML, Flash, Shockwave and QuickTime content.
The DS15 is also available with an optional Smart Card Reader or Magnetic Stripe Reader, allowing businesses to easily capture customer data instantaneously.
