Pizza Hut has partnered with Moving Tactics, a South African digital signage solutions company, to implement digital menu boards within their stores in Africa.

Pizza Hut, which returned to South Africa in 2014 after an absence of six years, has rapidly been expanding since its first store opened in Johannesburg in September 2013, with a total of 21 stores currently operating. In line with the look and feel of their international stores, Pizza Hut has partnered with Moving Tactics, a South African digital signage solutions company, to implement digital menu boards within their stores in Africa, according to a company press release.
"We needed to implement a digital menu board system that would meet the high standards of our international team, be priced competitively, and most importantly, would be flexible enough to work on the fly and meet the demands of our challenging roll-out schedule, with five stores being finalized in one month towards the end of last year," said Randall Blackford, Yum! Brands Inc.'s managing director of Pizza Hut in South Africa.
Moving Tactics has used an X2O Media based-platform to power their digital menu board system. X2O Media is an end-to-end HTML5-based system, which is able to create and manage content from one channel to another.
"In the extremely fast-paced quick service restaurant industry, prices and product promotions constantly need to be changed and updated and our clients require effortless and effective content management system tools to make this happen," said Chris Day, managing director at Moving Tactics. "Our X2O Media menu board system enables the price of any item to be changed within minutes at all outlets or within a specific region, allowing restaurant chains to control product pricing at all stores, manage promotions more effectively and retain consistency and integrity with their customers".
Moving Tactics has used its content-management expertise to maximize the efficacy of the boards as a marketing tool, the release stated.
"Content management and the flexibility to update content when, where and as quickly as is needed is key. Our content management team is dedicated to offering strategic advice to maximize sales conversions and display the information in an attractive and effective way. This is an on-going process, and with approximately 80 more Pizza Hut outlets due to open next year, we'll continue to drive innovation in this area," said Willem van Bosch, solutions development manager at Moving Tactics.
