Ping HD has almost completed the rollout of LG displays powered by its EngagePHD software to more than 2,400 Best Western hotels across Canada and the U.S. The company used 43, 49 ad 55-inch LG displays featuring LG's webOS for signage platform, according to a press release.
The hotel will use the displays to provide customers with information on the hotel, local news, flight information and custom content. The displays come with a system-on-a-chip, eliminating the need for an external media player, and the EngagePHD platform offers content management and network monitoring, according to the release.
"Working natively at the SoC level puts you right at the last point of failure, which minimizes capital investment by eliminating the purchase of unnecessary hardware and the labor costs associated with the installation of that unnecessary hardware," Kevin Goldsmith, chief technology officer, PingHD, said in the release. "Operating expenses are lowered by reducing content management and design effort, support hours and maintenance."
In addition to hotel information, some hotels are using the displays to offer QR codes for mobile interactivity or adding touchscreens for interactive elements, according to the release.
