Patent approved to provide kiosks with 3-D technology

January 12, 2011

Provision Interactive Technologies has developed technology to provide 3-D views of products for the self-service kiosk markets, according to the company's press release.

"Imagine a 3-D person greeting you when you conduct an ATM transaction or being able to have a 3-D view of a product before you buy it," said Curt Thornton, CEO of Provision. "This patent allows us to control that experience in this growing market."

Provision received a Notice of Allowance by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office for its 3-D holographic product, known as "HoloVision." Originally filed in 2005, the patent called "System and Method for Dispensing Consumer Products" protects vending machines and product dispensing kiosks when integrated with Provision's 3-D displays. This patent gives Provision great latitude in how 3-D is incorporated into the vending machine and self-service kiosk markets, according to the press release.

"We're extremely excited about the approval of this patent as it protects the company's key business model of integrating 3-D displays into customer-centric kiosks, vending machines, or any devices that dispense products and services," Thornton said in the press release.
