The Orlando City Stadium recently teamed up with Ping HD to deploy 147 Samsung Smart Signage Platform System on a Chip displays. Ping also provided each display with an IP address to enable unique content on each one, according to a press release.
Each display is connected to the internet through the EngagePHD solution. The solution uses the display's onboard ATSC/QAM tuner to stream TV channels and live raw camera feeds. The stadium can display unique content on each of the screens or the same content on all screens, or a mixture. Fans can use a QR code to change the channel on the displays.
Other features include:
"EngagePHD offers greater elasticity and a fresh approach to traditional IPTV solutions and can exist in a hybrid environment where modulated TV content and network based User Datagram Protocol based IPTV streams exist," Kevin Goldsmith, CTO at Ping, said in the release. "System on a Chip display technology has advanced so much that we are able to deliver as much flexibility within Samsung SSP Displays that you’d expect to get from a high-end external Windows based media player."
