Norwegian bookstore chain Libris has rolled out a digital signage network with the help of Scala Certified Partner Capella Media. To date, Capella Media has installed 46-inch Samsung screens in 85 Libris stores and plans to install signs in another 40 stores by summer 2010.
Adding digital signage is part of Libris' store design upgrade initiative. Libris hopes the high-impact digital displays will give the stores a more upscale image and clearly communicate in-store promotions and other information to shoppers while they are most receptive. Libris will run engaging corporate branding ads, publisher-specific promotions and book club information on one main channel while customers are standing in line and browsing the aisles.
A key benefit of the deployment is being able to rapidly update advertising and promotion messages in all stores at one time. The screens provide a consistent look and feel from store to store, and promotions can be tied in with direct mail promotions.
NorgesGruppen, the parent company of Libris, selected Scala software based on its successful usage in its other chains including Kiwi, Spar, and Mix and Meny. Capella Media will continue to provide Libris with content production and playlist management.
"The Scala software is flexible, stable and dynamic, our three most important criteria," said Kari Andreassen, campaign manager at Libris. "Although the technology is relatively new, the project has gone smoothly with no major problems. NorgesGruppen has broad competence in this field and has been very receptive to our ideas, while Capella Media, which produced the content, has helped us communicate a solid, well-conceived message for this new channel right from the start."
