Scala digital signage is at the core of a large-scale, country-wide corporate communications deployment at DNB, Norway's biggest bank, according to an announcement from Scala Inc. Blending a number of existing DNB brand identities into one, the rollout has boosted internal DNB communications across multiple sites while also enhancing external customer communications, the company said.
According to the announcement, DNB is the first company in Norway to use this technology on such a large scale. The DNB-owned offices are connected by a giant Scala digital signage network that includes more than 400 screens and 380 players. This technology is installed in branches, flagship stores, corporate headquarters and smaller branch offices across the country.
The internal corporate communications digital signage network at DNB, which enables the bank to display targeted content to specific areas, fulfills a crucial internal communication role while also addressing environmental concerns around the printing of hard copy materials, Scala said.
"The internal communications network complements the overall company rebranding project, which is based on communication and collaboration," said Werner Olsen, solution designer for digital signage at local Scala partner ATEA. "Employees can get relevant information everywhere they go."
At the Oslo and Bergen headquarters buildings, spanning 85,000 square meters, more than 265 screens driven by 228 Scala players deliver information to more than 6,000 DNB employees. The screens are located in reception areas, elevator areas, departments and social areas such as the cafeteria in both buildings.
Christian Lie, senior advisor for digital signage at DNB, said the company hasn't yet formally measured the impact of the internal network. "However, we know that people notice when we put up new information on the screens. And if people see this information and say it's relevant, then it's successful."
To complete its corporate redesign project, DNB worked in partnership with Norwegian design house Snøhetta, with technical help from Anti, Scala and its local partner, ATEA. The revamp included the design of a new logo, new corporate messaging and the opening of five flagship branches throughout Norway.
