The NHL has partnered with Supponor to use digitally enhanced dasherboards on digital signage at its games, according to a nhl.com press release.
DED technology uses AI integrations to replace content shown at the physical location of the game with alternate content (including ads or score information) for broadcast audiences, according to the release. Content can be targeted on local, national and international levels, allowing advertising customization and interactivity hitherto unseen in the league's games.
"Digitally Enhanced Dasherboards will revolutionize the way properties and broadcasters interact with brands across the world, not only in the NHL, but in all sports," Keith Wachtel, chief business officer and senior executive vice president at the NHL, said in the release. "This has been a significant undertaking for the League, which has included years of developing, testing and readying the technology for League-wide implementation. We are thrilled to partner with Supponor to bring this game-changing technology to life this season and provide increased opportunity and value to our business partners."
