NEC Display Solutions has announced it will refocus its efforts away from future medical diagnostic displays and to its health care display portfolio. The company will focus on health care clinical review displays, wayfinding and other digital signage solutions, according to a press release.
The company plans to develop new solutions for back office, administration, information, wayfinding, digital signage, health care education and conferencing. NEC's current non-diagnostic display partners and original equipment manufacturers will not be affected by this transition, according to the release.
"While discontinuing future development in the medical diagnostic display market is a difficult decision, we are determined that now is the appropriate time to accelerate innovation in the markets where we deliver the greatest benefits and highest value," Todd Bouman, president and CEO of NEC Display, said in the release. "We are thankful for our valued diagnostic display customers and remain committed to seeing them through this transition."
NEC will also continue to support diagnostic displays until the end of their warranty periods.
