Retailer Lord & Taylor recently renovated its flagship New York store, adding a powerful digital-media system from Wixom, Mich.-based Pro-Motion Technology Group, according to a recent announcement from Pro-Motion.
Dominick Ponti, senior vice president of Design, construction and Facilities for Lord & Taylor, said the overhaul demanded current-generation ambience marketing provided by digital visual and audio. The renovation is the first major overhaul in nearly 30 years.
"We updated ourselves to today's level — you must have digital media for branding," Ponti said in the announcement. "This was our 'Ultimate Face-Lift,' and Pro-Motion came up with the best solutions and met my wildest expectations."
The project, launched in early 2010, featured a redesign of the 650,000-square-foot location on Fifth Avenue. Pro-Motion provided music and digital display systems controlled by a next-generation user interface – while working within strict zoning requirements for this 96-year-old historic building.
The installation includes a digital-signage network in which brands within Lord & Taylor are highlighted. This network is managed from Pro-Motion's Network Operations Center located in its headquarters. The entire system is controlled by a state-of-art touchscreen rack system located on the seventh floor. The music system is configurable by floor and serves to create the individual ambience each floor needs.
Marcy Patzer, vice president of sales for Pro-Motion, said her company was excited to partner with Lord & Taylor on this and future projects.
