Leeds lands largest full-motion LED screen

U.K. digital out-of-home firm SIS Digital announced it has taken the wraps off what it says is Leeds' largest full-motion LED digital signage screen.

U.K. digital out-of-home firm SIS Digital announced it has taken the wraps off what it says is Leeds' largest full-motion LED screen.

The installation is on The Pinnacle, on Bond Street, which is at the entrance to one of the Yorkshire city's most popular pedestrian walkways, and has been completed on behalf of building owners the Moorfield Group, according to SIS.

Measuring 3.6 meters wide by 6.6 meters high — with a full canvas of 23.04 square meters — the company said it has again opted for the Philips Showall 10 (LED 10 mm full-color LED screen) as its screen of choice.

The new screen, which has in-built wireless and near-field communications capability, boasts 5,500 nits of brightness to ensure images displayed are clear in bright daylight, while the 10-mm SMD LED panels incorporate full-motion smart screen technology.

SIS Digital, which has its design base in London, its manufacturing division in Peterborough and a northern outpost in Harrogate, said it provides a full turnkey service to media companies, shopping centers, retailers and major sports clubs looking to join the evolving digital signage revolution.

"Even though we have installed a number of screens in Leeds, the completion of The Pinnacle marks a first for the city in terms of it being the largest full-motion LED screen in its center," said SIS Digital's Andrew Simister in the announcement. "We worked closely with the city council to ensure we were granted planning permission first time, and what we promised in terms of a blueprint was what we subsequently delivered.

"The screen is located in a bustling, pedestrian thoroughfare, popular with office workers and shoppers alike, and it will be seen by tens of thousands of people each and every week."
