Las Vegas strip to go dark to honor victims of 2017 mass shooting
The Las Vegas strip will power down its iconic lights and displays tonight at 10:01 p.m. to honor the victims of the Mandalay Bay Resort mass shooting last year, which claimed 58 lives. Other sections of the city will likely power down as well, according to a report by USA Today.
At 10:05, the Community Healing Garden in downtown Las Vegas will hold a reading of the names of the victims. The city will also dedicate a new remembrance wall.
"A lot of people have probably put it out of their minds," Steve Sisolak, Clark county commissioner, said in the report. "The anniversary is going to bring up a lot of feelings, good and bad."
