Intava announces in-store touchscreen music-merchandising system

Intava has introd the Intava Backbeat, an in-store music and promotional system, and the copmany has announced a global music-licensing partnership with Jamendo PRO, a online music-licensing platform.
According to Intava, Backbeat not only provides ambient music for any store or restaurant, but also lets customers browse, preview and play music on the system's dynamic touchscreen, all while seeing in-store promotional messages.
Intava Backbeat features Jamendo PRO's catalogue of more than 200,000 tracks from artists around the world.
Recent research shows a direct link between an effective in-store music strategy, revenues and customer loyalty, with 79 percent of consumers saying that music encourages them to stay longer in stores and spend more.
Intava says Backbeat is an upgrade to simple ambient music, enabling retailers to target specific audiences with fresh, entertaining content tailored to their tastes. The result is a richer brand experience and more purchases from customers.
Through Intava's partnership with Jamendo, Backbeat leverages an online music platform for free and legal music downloads, providing restaurant owners, hoteliers and retailers with fully customizable background and interactive music systems. Backbeat allows customers to queue up tracks by moving them around the screen, view album art, preview as many songs as they like and learn where to get their favorite tracks online. The system also is flexible enough to keep pace with a retailer's in-store entertainment and promotional strategies and at the same time offers an advertising medium for further revenue opportunities.
