Industrial PC company rolls out new unit for public transit systems

Industrial PC manufacturer Arbor Solutions has announced the expansion of its ELIT series with the ELIT-2240, an industrial grade PC designed specifically for digital signage and for Passenger Information Systems.

Industrial PC manufacturer Arbor Solutions has announced the expansion of its ELIT series with the ELIT-2240, an industrial grade PC designed specifically for digital signage and for Passenger Information Systems. The unit is 19-inches long and is designed with dual DDR3 sockets fur up to 16 GB of RAM, according to the press release.

"PIS, a fast-growing segment of public transportation, require a reliable backbone to operate efficiently," said Brian Yurkiw, Arbor Solution vice president. "By adopting the ELIT-2240 as the core of its central control unit, users can control and transmit real-time information among the central control unit, the sub-station control units and the display terminals, providing passengers dynamic and real-time information. This includes notices for passengers, time of departure and arrival, station announcements and other multimedia information."

Some of the systems features include:

  • A 19-inch chassis design;
  • Intel Core i5/i3 with Celeron and Pentium processors;
  • Integrated Intel HD graphics;
  • Six USB 2.0 ports;
  • 1 PCI Express expansion;
  • Four gigabit ethernet ports and two serial ports; and
  • Support for Windows Embedded 7, Windows 7 Professional, Windows CP Embedded and Windows XP Professional.

The unit is available now from resellers in the U.S. and Canada starting at $855.
