Herbalife, a nutrition and multilevel marketing company, has partnered with Proto Hologram and the L.A. Galaxy soccer team for its 2023 Herbalife Honors awards ceremony at the L.A. Convention Center, according to a press release. Digital Signage Today reached out to Proto via phone call and spoke to a representative to get additional details.
Herbalife, which is in its 15th year of owning the jersey naming rights for the L.A. Galaxy soccer team, installed two Proto Epic holoportation communication devices at its event to allow L.A. Galaxy players to interact with attendees via hologram at its annual organizational awards ceremony. Players included Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Chase Gasper and Daniel Aguirre, among others.
According to the Proto spokesperson, collaborations between Proto and Major League Soccer have included the Atlanta United FC players greeting fans via hologram at the AT&T Perch in Mercedes Benz Stadium, along with collaborating with AT&T at BMO Stadium (formerly known as Banc of California Stadium) for an All Star game.
According to Proto's spokesperson, this marks a fairly extensive pattern of sports-related work for Proto. As reported by Digital Signage Today, Proto was also used by Dallas Cowboys player Demarcus Ware to surprise fans with a holographic appearance. Other sports organizations that have used Proto include NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA, USTA, Formula One and Formula E, and Proto's investors include over 65 active and retired professional athletes, including Albert Pujols, Robert Griffin III, Brittany Griner and Marshawn Lynch.
The spokesperson also noted that additional companies have used Proto in sports marketing, including Kia, IWC, DHL, T-Mobile, Virgin Media 02 and Chase Bank.
