Harris showcasing DOOH offering at London's Screenmedia Expo 2011

March 27, 2011

Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, recently announced that it will showcase the latest features and functionality of its digital out-of-home (DOOH) offering — the Harris InfoCaster digital signage system and its Punctuate business management software — at Screenmedia Expo 2011. Screenmedia Expo 2011 is being held at Earls Court 2, London, on May 18-19.

In combining these showcases on one exhibit, Harris said it will demonstrate its DOOH capabilities to support key vertical markets such as retail, transport, leisure, corporate, stadia/sports and live events venues.

Stadia/sports and live event venues:

The complex requirements of stadia/sports and live events venues will be addressed with demonstrations on the InfoCaster 4.2 and Punctuate 4.0 platform, such as IPTV streaming, customizable Web interfaces for network triggers, handheld remote control and closed captioning. The upgraded technology permits the management of "moments of exclusivity" across the venue for maximum sponsor exposure, Harris said.

Retail:

Retailers who visit the stand will be able to witness advanced video wall functionality, Harris said. The InfoCaster Video Wall solution allows users to build canvassed output, inherent to players. Images can be spanned across multiple players, with one large output feeding multiple monitors without the need for a video processing unit. Images are rendered across multiple screens to match each screen's native resolution without stretching, no matter how many screens are used. In addition, display control and the integration with MICROS-Retail point-of-sale solutions are available on the InfoCaster 4.2 platform.

Transport:

Updates to the InfoCaster DS1100 will appeal to visitors from the transport arena who need technology that is not only powerful but resistant to external factors, the company said. This digital signage player is specifically designed to reliably operate in a variety of rugged transportation environments and conditions and includes solid-state drives and 12v power, with all fasteners locked and sealed to prevent loosening from shock and vibration.

"In a variety of markets, digital signage technology enables organizations to connect with their target audience, enhance the customer experience and maximize revenue generation opportunities," said Denise MacDonell, director and general manager for digital signage, Harris Broadcast Communications. "Harris brings many years experience in the application of digital technology to enhance business operations with customers worldwide. We have experienced strong growth in this area over the last 12 months, and we anticipate that Screenmedia Expo 2011 will be a significant business networking event for us."
