Hammond and Schult integrate, install digital menu board and POS system
November 28, 2007
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Hammond Communications Group, a developer of turnkey digital signage solutions, and Schult Industries, a supplier of creative signs, menu systems and displays, have been contracted by Muvico to provide a digital menu board solution.
Muvico is a growing chain of megaplex motion picture theaters that specializes in state-of-the-art theaters, expanded concession menus and VIP areas with bars and restaurants.
Hammond and Schult developed a menu board system that could integrate content from the POS system relative to location.
All of the digital menu boards run on Scala software with the general concessions menu boards also running custom ScalaScript/VB Script programming and a Microsoft .NET application developed by Hammond. Working with Radiant Technologies, makers of the POS software used by Muvico, Hammond created a custom application that mines data from the POS to drive pricing and menu items. As menu items are entered into the POS system, they automatically are made visible on the digital menu board. Pricing relevant to that item in a particular location also is updated in real time.
With the Hammond digital menu board application, Muvico can automate or instantly modify its menu boards to reflect any change to menu, price or inventory. In addition, the local managers have the ability to respond to current conditions and modify the digital menu board. For example, items in excess such as additional pizzas instantly can be promoted for sale in a specific location.
