Future Robot brings digital signage with a smile

September 27, 2012

The company Future Robot unveiled a new service robot that functions as a friendly digital signage kiosk, according to gizmag.com.

The FURO-K moves around greeting customers with a synthesized voice to explain its features, rather than sitfuture robotsin a corner like some of its less-mobile counterparts, and its anime-inspired face even looks sad when the customers leave. The robot comes with an integrated circuit card reader and NFC, but also accepts credit card payments and prints receipts. The company has already sold the robot to hospitals in Korea, with other buyers in Brazil and France, according to the article.

"The key strength of Future Robot, in my opinion, is its human-robot interaction technology which is compatible with all other robots," said Future Robot's CEO, Se-kyong Song, who started the company following stints at Samsung and Philips robot research labs. "As Steve Jobs ushered in a new smart society with the convergence of art and technology, I hope that Future Robot will pioneer the new robot age with the convergence of robots and technology."
