A Florida eldercare facility that leverages Uniguest technology and digital signage in eldercare has been featured in "The Human Component," a BBC StoryWorks series presented by the Consumer Technology Association, according to a press release.
Discovery Village Independent Living is an eldercare center in Naples, Florida, which leverages technology solutions from Uniguest to enhance residents' lives. Uniguest solutions used in the facility include Uniguest community apps, wireless headphones, and digital signage technology.
"Age is just a number," Marion Ungrich, resident at Discovery Village, said in the episode. "I was born in 1926, so that makes me 97 and a half years old.
"Technology doesn't slow me down," Ungrich added. "It does keep me going... Being able to choose how to spend my time — I can't imagine a retirement more delightful and fulfilling. I love this community."
Staff and residents interviewed for the program credit health and longevity as benefits of lifelong curiosity and constantly learning new things and staying active.
"What sets us so differently from other senior living communities is that we push that technology, and the residents just thrive on it," Miranda DeVault, director of celebrations at Discovery Senior Living, said during the episode. "It gives me so much joy to help these residents utilize this technology and keep their independence. Residents can wake up in the morning, and it's right there. They also can grab their smart device and they can say, okay, what's going on here in the community?"
Technology allows residents to see and register for upcoming events, to access menus and order food items for upcoming meals, and more.
