Edwards Lifesciences, a medical technology firm based in Irvine, California, has unveiled its digital transformation project for its conference center, which emphasizes digital signage, according to a press release.
The project included displays from Christie, a digital signage firm, and partnership with Sound Image, an integrator that provided specification and integration service, along with Plannet, a technology consulting and delivery firm that provided design support.
The installation features two front-serviceable 16-by-nine foot Christie LED 1.2mm video walls, powered by a Christie Spyder X80 image processor and including redundant Christie E600 controllers. The video walls support optional remote power supply and are compatible with 4K (at 60 hertz) and HDR10, with built-in Clearview technology and low-brightness enhancements.
Seating up to 126 people, the system integrates a microphone at each seat, along with six cameras at the front of the room and two at the rear, with support for auto-tracking and multi-window conferencing.
"We looked at a couple other Christie products and solutions as well as other manufacturers, but the customer likes Christie, and I like supporting Christie," Jared Shapiro, account executive at Sound Image, said in the release. "The customer wanted an off-board power supply because of heat concerns they had in this space. This allowed us to move all those BTUs into the rack room where they can be better-controlled.
"Spyder has been established across multiple projects throughout this campus, and what I like to do is standardize some of the technologies that we're using. Spyder is driving the multi-window and auto-tracking functionality, which helped us create clean transitions and multi-window presets... Everyone loves the space, and everything about it — from the audio to the video — is top-notch."
