According to Media Daily News, the Gannett Co. news chain saw both revenues and profits drop in Q2 2011, with its broadcasting business (including Captivate, its digital place-based ad network in office buildings) one of the few bright spots and holding steady.
Despite the lack of political advertising this year, the broadcast division's total revenues were essentially the same as Q2 2010 — up to $184.4 million from $184 million.
The main bright spot for Gannett was in digital advertising; TV revenues were also steady; and its newspaper revenues declined.
