U.K.-based salon specialist agency Showreel TV announced today that it has bought digital signage company Simply Media for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase will allow Showreel TV to extend its network of Salons to 500-plus sites around the U.K., Showreel TV Director Mark Butcher said in the announcement.
Showreel TV, founded in 2007, lets high-class hair salons schedule and publish content — including news, weather, salon advice and information, and messages to employees — to systems via the Showreel TV software, the announcement said.
Content is provided by Showreel TV's own in-house design studio, and includes a mixture of short entertainment features and reviews, covering topics from fashion and celebrity info to health, beauty and travel, along with local, national and salon-based advertisement according to an email from Showreel TV Design Studio Manager Daz Busby.
The company's PC-based players are small, lightweight devices with a wide range of display interfaces for use with different kinds of screens, including analog TVs, Butcher said. Linked via an Internet Protocol network, the displays can feature constantly-updated messages or video tailored to the place where each is located, the company said.
