Dimensional Imaging offering Head Mounted Camera for facial performance capture

Dimensional Imaging plans to launch its Head Mounted Camera, which can capture facial performance data with a stereo pair of 4MP camera and a synchronized on-board strobed LED illumination for camera focus and illumination across the face, according to a press release.

The wireless system can work at all major production frame rates up to 60-frames-per-second. The solution is compatible most third-party facial processing pipelines, but DI4D built it specifically for its own post processing solution.

"Our world-leading DI4D facial performance capture pipeline uses stereo photogrammetry and optical flow tracking without any special markers or makeup and relies on high quality image data," Colin Urquhart, CEO, DI4D, said in the release. "The DI4D HMC has been designed specifically to make it easy to capture consistently high quality stereo facial video data without compromising on actor comfort. It therefore promises to raise the bar on the quality of performance driven facial animation in visual effects and video games."
