Emergency notification and mass communication solutions provider Regroup recently presented to San Francisco officials its plans for a possible automated early earthquake warning notification system that send notifications via digital signage and other communications channels to help officials and citizens take protective measures, according to an announcement from Regroup.
The presentation from Regroup CEO Joe DiPasqaule was given in conjunction with its collaborative work with the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management through the city’s Entrepreneurship-in-Residence program, and covered the firm's work on a multilingual, automated early earthquake warning notification system. Regroup’s pilot system would trigger notifications to cellphones, landlines, email, websites, social media, digital signage and other communication channels to provide city officials and citizens with the rapid early earthquake warnings they need in order to take protective measures, the company said. Regroup would integrate with the federally funded California Integrated Seismic Network ShakeAlert EEW, which currently provides notifications to a closed system via a desktop application.
