ClearOne President, CEO and Chairwoman Zee Hakimoglu has received the 2012 InfoComm International Women in AV Award, created to raise awareness of the growing role of female professionals in the male-dominated field of audiovisual technology. ClearOne is a global company that designs, develops and sells conferencing, collaboration, streaming and digital signage solutions for audio, video and data multimedia communication.
Malissa Dillman, the training and education manager for Kramer Electronics, also was recognized with a 2012 InfoComm International Women in AV Award for her work as an educator in the last year, preparing approximately 300 people to take their InfoComm CTS exam, teaching a combined total of more than 400 people in just about one year with Kramer, and conceiving and successfully executing Kramer's Road Show program, creating regional opportunities to spend a full day earning CTS renewal units while receiving topical technology education.
InfoComm said in its announcement of the awards that "these award winners are in the upper echelon of AV professionals and symbolize the strength of entrepreneurship and excellence in developing tomorrow's AV talent."
It also said of Hakimoglu in the announcement that she "is a passionate leader dedicated to product innovation. Deeply ensconced in the entire AV development process, she is involved in every aspect, from writing code, to industrial design, to the final acoustical performance. She is an advocate for products that are easy to use and environmentally friendly. In 2009, under Ms. Hakimoglu's leadership, ClearOne was named one of America's fastest-growing small public companies by Fortune Small Business magazine."
"I am honored to be recognized by InfoComm, the largest, single most influential global trade organization representing the audiovisual information communications industries," Hakimoglu said in a release from ClearOne. "As the market rapidly evolves — with AV and IT network convergence on the infrastructure side, and audio, video and data convergence on the applications side — the opportunity for our industry practitioners and manufacturers will continue to grow. The professional AV market has been ClearOne's foundation, and remains our passion."
The awards were presented at the InfoComm 100, a conference designed to bring together top AV industry thought leaders and volunteers.
"Both Malissa Dillman and Zee Hakimoglu have reached the pinnacle of achievement in the audiovisual industry," said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., executive director and CEO, InfoComm International. "These women are leading and shaping the future of the AV industry, ensuring the next generation of AV professionals will be well-trained and entrepreneurial."
