Comedy's Central's show "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah' will feature the Shinnecock Indian Nation's digital billboard on Sunrise Highway in Hampton Bays, New York. The tribe has deployed two 61-foot tall billboards to raise advertising revenue, despite a lawsuit from the state of New York, according to a report by Newsday.
Officials claim that the billboards conflict with the atmosphere of the highway, which is a common path for tourists. The state has sued the tribe, which ignored a cease and desist order from the Department of Transportation. The Shinnecock Nation has claimed that the Native American land is sovereign territory and is contesting the lawsuit in the New York Supreme Court.
Trevor Noah's segment will focus on the tribe's struggle with the state of New York. Tribe Council Chairman Bryan Polite posted a photo on Facebook of comedian Michael Kosta on the billboard with a graphic saying, "Relax, and enjoy your stolen land. Brought to you by Michael Kosta."
The episode will air in September.
