ComiQi Inc. and its parent company AUO have recently launched an all-in-one digital signage solution combining Intel Smart Display Module architecture to place a media player inside an AUO commercial LCD display. The solution comes with two models, each of which can handle displays that measure 42 and 44-inch diagonal and video wall displays sized at 46 and 55-inches diagonal, according to a press release.
Both models run on the Ubuntu Linux operating system and are compatible with ComQi's EnGage content management platform. With the Intel architecture, the modules only need a single power cord, according to the release.
"One of the key technical benefits of our approach is that end-users who want to use smart displays are not restricted to the power and capabilities of whatever system on chip media processor the screen manufacturer has used in that year's product line-up," Greg Galvin SVP of technology and solutions, ComQi, said in the release. "By using Intel SDM modules and AUO displays, customers can use a general-purpose compute that will do most jobs very well, and for those screens and tasks that have high-resolution graphic demands, they can use the more powerful version that has an Intel Core i7 inside."
