Canadian regional health care provider Mackenzie Health has opted to deploy the Connexient MediNav Digital Wayfinding and Patient Experience solution, according to an announcement from Connexient.
MediNav features a native application for iPhone and Android smartphones that provides patients and visitors with indoor maps, "turn-by-turn" directions, physician lookups and location-based content. This is complemented by an in-hospital wayfinding kiosk solution for arriving visitors and patients, the company said.
"As a leading health care provider, Mackenzie Health is sharply focused on delivering an outstanding patient experience," said Richard Tam, executive vice president and COO at Mackenzie Health, in the announcement. "With the explosive growth of smartphone devices amongst users, we wanted to be among the first to embrace the innovation of Mobile Wayfinding with MediNav. MediNav will provide our patients and visitors with interactive indoor maps and turn-by-turn navigation to any destination inside the hospital. This results in fewer patients getting lost, less missed or late appointments, and a much better overall patient experience. Our partnership with Connexient is in keeping with our vision to create a world-class health experience for the people of our community."
Connexient CEO Mark Green said, "Mackenzie Health will be the first hospital in Canada to implement [the] MediNav solution, which is a very significant milestone for Connexient. MediNav will be integrated with Mackenzie's recently updated Cisco Wireless infrastructure. We are proud to join in Mackenzie's tradition of innovation and excellence, and help them to provide a compelling digital wayfinding experience to their patients and visitors."
