BrightSign LLC, a provider of digital signage media players, announced that its players are driving a video wall at The Grand Hyatt Hotel, located in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square, according to a company press release. The 3-meter-by-8-meter array of screens is mounted 20 feet above the lobby floor.
AV Structural was awarded the project and constructed a 20-foot-high, 34-foot-long scaffolding apparatus that enabled the team to work around the clock, while maintaining safety for its crew and for hotel guests walking beneath the scaffolding. The new video wall also required an installation to provide easy access to the displays for periodic maintenance and eventual replacement, the release said.
The installation, using 24 XD1132 players with BrightSign’s BrightWall and BrightAuthor software allowed AV Structural to create a high-definition, 1080p-resolution-per-display video wall controlled by a single Apple iPad Air 2. With the XD1132 units wall-mounted directly under the video wall and hidden behind a matching wood veneer under the stairs, the entire system is maintained from this accessible equipment area versus dealing with individual components high above the floor, or mounted behind the displays, according to the release. The system includes high redundant power, remote system monitoring and a dual-network switch to reduce downtime.
