AOPEN intros digital signage media player featuring third-gen Intel processor

AOPEN, a manufacturer of digital signage and appliance computing solutions, has unveiled the Digital Engine DE67-HAI, which the company describes as its most powerful small form factor device.

The device supports second- and third- generation Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, the company said in a news release, and through Intel's Active Management Technology, lets users query, restore, upgrade and protect networked digital signage devices remotely.

Other features include 1080p full-HD video playback on multiple displays, low noise and power consumption and two expansion slots (full size and half size) supporting mSATA.

AOPEN Marketing Manager Gabriëlle Offringa said the DE67-HAI is the company's most cutting-edge media player.

"We are delighted to offer Intel's advanced technology in our latest Digital Engine," she said in the release. "Its capability and compact form factor make it ideal for signage solutions within retail, finance, hospitality, large enterprises and other major vertical markets with ambitious signage needs. We see the need for video enrichment in advertising and messaging increasing, as marketing professionals becoming aware of the significant impact of video in their communication strategy."

Elaine Cook, retail strategic marketing director for Intel, said the solutions will help drive digital signage adoption.

"Third-generation Intel Core processors with Intel AMT deliver both high performance and security while improving remote device management," she said in the release. "Solutions such as AOPEN's will help the industry adoption of digital signage with the ability to remotely control and disable devices in a large-scale network."
