AMETEK to host electrical protection training at InfoComm 2016

May 25, 2016

AMETEK Electronic Systems Protection's SurgeX brand, a provider of advanced power protection and intelligent diagnostic solutions, will host Electrical Protection of AV & IT Equipment (Session MT36), a training course for integrators, consultants, distributors and attendees interested in learning more about the fundamentals of electricity, power protection and SurgeX smart energy solutions, according to a company press release.

The course will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon PDT Thursday, June 9, at InfoComm 2016 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. AMETEK Electronic System Protection will be at InfoComm 2016 in booth C7518.

The need for power is a unifying force for all AV, IT, digital signage, medical and other installations, the release said. Attendees of the training can expect to walk away with a deeper understanding of the various types of electrical dangers that face their industry and detailed information on the protection products and solutions currently available. The course will also explain the various electrical disturbances that can damage sensitive equipment and then evaluate the pros and cons of various power protection devices with special consideration paid to the deployment of these solutions in different installation environments.

The goal of the training is to make integrators more aware of the types of power-related issues that can befall their installations and better equip them to manage them, the release said.

"Power can be a 'silent killer' of connected equipment in many installations," said Dave D'Agostino, director of Sales for AMETEK Electronic Systems Protection. "Power-related problems occur daily and often go unnoticed until it's too late. Our InfoComm training course will highlight how premium surge protection can create sales opportunities for integrators and save their customers money over time."
