AirDroid Business unveils Android digital signage solution

Sand Studio, a mobile device management company, has upgraded its MDM platform AirDroid Business to add digital signage features. With this upgrade, AirDroid Business can turn any Android device into a digital signage display, according to a press release.

Customers can use two-way bulk file transfer capabilities to add advertisements to the Android device along with Kiosk Mode, which allows users to lock the device to one or multiple apps. With this feature, end users can open an advertising file either on-site or remotely using a media player app, according to the release.

"Our research has shown that setting up infrastructure for digital signage can range anywhere from $6,000 to $30,0001 for an SMB," Anson Shiong, CEO of Sand Studio, said in the release. "For many SMBs who aren't looking for extensive features, this is not a realistic price point, so we developed a solution that takes existing, or at least accessible, infrastructure such as an Android tablet, which can retail for as little as $100, and turn it into digital signage."
