11Giraffes partners with NEC for OPS digital signage media players

Digital signage and in-store audio solutions provider 11Giraffes has partnered with commercial LCD display and projector solutions provider NEC Display Solutions to offer the 11Giraffes digital signage platform on NEC’s Open Pluggable Specification family of devices, 11Giraffes announced recently. The OPS media players can be inserted directly into any compatible NEC display, creating a cable-free and fully turnkey digital signage solution, the company said.

By supporting NEC's OPS platform, 11Giraffes said it is able to deploy interchangeable systems faster and at a reduced cost, as compared to separate display and media player hardware. Installing digital signage equipment based on Intel's OPS architecture helps implement scalable digital signage applications with the flexibility to meet the requirements of individual customers, according to the company. NEC's OPS offering also aids 11Giraffes' clients in future-proofing technology investments, it said.

"NEC's OPS platform allows us to offer our media player software fully integrated within its displays, while retaining the serviceability benefits of modular components," 11Giraffes Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Operations Jim Marascio said in the announcement. "By supporting Android, Linux and Windows versions of NEC's OPS product line, we can simplify installation and maintenance, reduce the installation footprint, and further increase reliability, while retaining all of the benefits of 11Giraffes' digital signage solution."

The company's media player software is certified for use on the NEC OPS-DRD, OPS-PCIC and OPS-PCIA devices. In doing so, the companies offer solutions for OPS Android devices, as well as Linux and Windows OPS PC hardware.

 "NEC Display has been at the forefront of supporting the OPS standard, and our partnership with 11Giraffes opens up additional options for our valued customers and the marketplace at large," NEC Vice President of Marketing and Solutions Operations Richard Ventura said in the announcement. "Multiple video formats, high-definition content and 24x7 run times are just some of the benefits of the NEC OPS platform."

The relationship between NEC and 11Giraffes enables 11Giraffes and its resellers to offer the NEC hardware through existing distribution channels. NEC also will recommend the 11Giraffes digital signage platform through its sales channels.
