Introduction and fresh perspectives

This blog is about fresh perspectives on the digital signage industry and the technology that drives it. I've recently landed at the digital media consulting firm Sensory Interactive after starting my career as a theatrical and architectural lighting designer with a penchant for control systems — and I'll be honest, I am having a blast. As a creative professional, I'm excited about how this industry pushes the limits of what's possible, and of what constitutes evocative imagery and experiences. As a geek and a product of the Internet age, I'm excited about the enthusiasm behind new technologies and the willingness to take new approaches to create the next big thing.

I've only been around for about nine months so I'm learning. I'm soaking it all in like a sponge, and the projects I'm working on and the people I'm working with are all constant sources of inspiration. I hope to use this blog to expand on my quickly growing experiences in the industry; to vent about those things that frustrate me; and celebrate the things that excite me. I hope to use this platform as a sounding board too. This isn't just a one-way conversation, feel free to comment and help me get a conversation going. The more people who get involved the better. Fresh perspectives are the key — I hope to pick up as much from others as I can.

The technology and the people make this industry fascinating and exciting. I think there are few other industries out there where so many different disciplines converge to create a single customer experience. I'm looking forward to having a respected outlet to chronicle my journey — I hope you'll join me.
