InfoComm 2016 is underway. The show that bills itself as the largest professional AV show in the world continues to ramp up its focus on the digital signage sector of the pro AV market and is unveiling some new attractions.
This year's show takes place June 4-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and features more than 1,000 exhibitors and 40,000-plus attendees from more than 110 countries, according to the show website. The show also features new educational programs, including The Internet of Things Education Program and Pavilion where attendees can learn about the implications and opportunities of IoT for the AV industry. "The Internet of Things Insights" seminar will take place June 7 with a series of presentations, panels and discussions moderated by Michael Carter of the Clarient Group. This conference will put IoT in context for AV professionals, focusing on the potential opportunities in this new space.
Tuesday features a full-day conference, with additional digital signage-focused sessions following Wednesday through Friday.
The Digital Signage Summit will also be held Tuesday. It features a full-day program covering hot industry topics like 4K, digital agencies and DOOH. The Summit launched 10 years ago in Munich, Germany. With events in Amsterdam, Munich, Dubai and Moscow, the Digital Signage Summit's case studies, technology and best practices have made it a leading conference on retail digital signage, according to the show website. The Summit has come to the U.S. for the first time.
Additionally, InfoComm University's new Seminar and Workshop Package provides attendees the choice of many four-hour workshops or one- to two-hour seminars Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This education package gives access to more than 80 workshops like "Mix it Up — Live Audio Workshop" and "Programming Logic and Best Practices," as well as training classes focused on audio, business management, live events, design, control and more.
Attendees may also visit two different presentation stages for tips on creating and streaming content. InfoComm has teamed up with five-time Emmy Award winner Michael Artsis and his online streaming company BeTerrific to bring attendees the Content Creation and Streaming Pavilion at InfoComm 2016, according to the show's website. It will offer two stages featuring live demos of streaming and content-creation applications. Industry experts will give insight on creating DIY content for non-broadcast applications.
InfoComm's rapidly expanding Digital Signage Pavilion again this year will feature one of the largest collections of digital signage solution exhibitors, ranging from top brands for LED display, content serving and distribution solutions, according to the show website.
