Corporate communications digital signage conference set for Indy

A first-of-its-kind event focusing on digital signage for corporate communications is coming to Eli Lilly HQ in Indianapolis.

August 1, 2010

A first-of-its-kind event in the digital signage industry will take place next week when the Digital Signage for Corporate Communication event is held in Indianapolis.

The day-long conference is going to be held August 10 at The Eli Lilly & Company Corporate Center (639 South Delaware Street) and will provide attendees tips, tricks and techniques for running a digital signage network, along with tremendous networking with those managing similar networks.
For those who aren't familiar with Lilly, it is a multibillion dollar pharmaceutical company (Cymbalta, Cialis, etc.) and one of Indianapolis' largest employers. It is also the home to LillyTV, a highly-successful digital signage implementation designed for corporate communications. The event will feature a tour of the Lilly Corporate Center and behind-the-scenes view of the network.

In the digital signage industry we like to drop big names when it comes to conference attendees, and this event has done a fine job of attracting several large companies. MediaTile's blog indicates that Southwest Airlines, Rolls-Royce, Fifth Third Bank, National Grid and Borshoff are scheduled to attend.

The event also has some very good speakers lined up. MediaTile's creative director David Trounstine will speak on digital signage content tips and tricks. Also, Preset Group consultant David Weinfeld will be on hand to discuss message management and ROI for digital signage. Weinfeld runs one of the best digital signage blogs out there and is a prolific commentator on digital signage strategy and the state of the industry in general.

The event will also feature Steve Crescenzo of Crescenzo Communications, who will discuss overall corporate communications strategy. He is holding a Corporate Communications 3.0 workshop in Indy the following day as well. Steve was recently voted No. 1 speaker for the third year in a row from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The event is largely the brainchild of MediaTile's Chuck Gose and Lilly's Chris Bias.

"Chris and I came up with the idea when we were leaving another digital signage event. Within the last year, there has been a greater focus on corporate communication networks, but they were still largely overshadowed by the public-facing ones," Gose said. "We wanted to create an event that focused on corporate communication and digital signage because the market is unique from the others."

Gose is the director of business development and social media for MediaTile, and is a downright social media guru. Gose formerly worked as a manager of internal communications for Rolls Royce, where he managed their MediaTile employee–facing network. Bias is a senior communications associate at Lilly, responsible for the company's internal communications and inherently the LillyTV digital signage network.

In addition to serving together as members of Indiana's Hoosier PRSA, Bias and Gose work together frequently on the digital signage network, as MediaTile is the primary technology provider for LillyTV.
