Almo Professional AV and InfoComm have partnered to bring a digital signage-heavy AV tour to stops in New York City, Anaheim and now Chicago.

With travel budgets still tight, Almo Professional AV and InfoComm realized that not everyone wants to travel to tradeshows to meet with company reps or to get certification credits.
So they decided to take a smaller version of a tradeshow and expo on the road with the E4 AV Tour, says Melody Craigmyle, director of marketing for Almo Pro AV.
Almo's E4 AV Tour, sponsored by InfoComm, makes its third stop next week in Chicago after earlier stops in New York City and Anaheim, Calif. With about 25 exhibitors and a wealth of educational sessions, the tour makes for a more intimate but still highly useful experience, Craigmyle says.
"The combination of the education and then the networking that folks get to do with the vendors and with their peers, and just the intimate one-on-one experience in the exhibit hall, just overall it's a great program," she said.
And while the show is aimed at AV professionals, there is a strong digital signage component, Craigmyle says, with several classes specific to digital signage.
The four E's in E4, are educate, explore, exchange and expo, according to the tour Web site:
Educate your organization and earn InfoComm CTS Renewal Units Explore new products and solutions for the AV industry Exchange ideas with colleagues and instructors through networking Expo! Get one-on-one time with 20 top manufacturers exhibiting their latest products
The free one-day event, held from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, will allow attendees the opportunity to earn up to 7 InfoComm CTS Renewal Units.
On the digital signage front, Alan and Jonathan Brawn of Brawn Consulting are scheduled to teach a class on video walls and installations, while InfoComm has set up a class on digital signage for sales professionals to help salespeople become conversant in the language of the industry and dealing with network and IT managers.
Also, NEC is set to conduct an hour-long dealer authorization training for its VUKUNET ad distribution platform. The E4 site describes what participants can expect:
Did you know that digital out-of-home advertising is the fastest growing portion of the advertising market behind the Internet? Did you know you could take advantage of this trend through your digital signage sales efforts and establish a reoccurring revenue opportunity for your company? Learn how NEC and VUKUNET are taking advantage of these new trends by combining the power of our "channel" with the rise in popularity of "out of home" advertising to launch an exciting new business for the 21st century. While out-of-home advertising is already a reality for targeted, high value brands, many ad agencies regard the medium as immature and experimental. This seminar presents NEC strategy for expanding digital out-of-home advertising beyond the national brands, provides an overview of NEC's new approach to industry challenges and answers important questions about how advertising will grow successfully in this dynamic space. In addition, this seminar will serve as a dealer authorization for NEC's new business platform in the digital out-of-home space.
And for those who can't make it to Chicago, Almo will be uploading live video on the E4 Tour Web site featuring live interviews with exhibitors.
In the show exhibit hall, industry partners like Canvys, LG, NEC, Samsung and Sharp will be exhibiting their latest wares, Craigmyle says.
Almo Professional AV is a new division within Almo Corp., started in July of last year, and the first E4 AV Tour stop was in December in New York. The Chicago stop is the last until an updated tour starts again in October in Washington, D.C. Organizers plan to take the main points of feedback from attendees at the first three shows to evaluate and update their offering for the next series, Craigmyle says.
Almo Pro AV is the largest value-added North American Professional AV distributor, offering its reseller partners the most expansive range of products, managed services, technical support, and training to drive business growth and generate profits.
