Third-party companies are an important part of Wing Zone's delivery strategy even though it has its own in-house drivers, CEO Matt Friedman said during an interview at the Restaurant Franchising and Innovation Summit in Louisville.
Although he admitted that the 20-to-30 percent fees charged by third-party companies aren't ideal, he is willing to pay up in order to be on all the platforms used by his customers.
"There's a group of people out there who are loyal to the third-party provider, and for us it's been an awesome opportunity to add new customers that we probably never would have had," he said.
After running a data poll looking at its third-party customers, the chain learned that 90% of its customers from the third-party providers were new to Wing Zone.
"For us, it really is a totally separate growth model for our business," Friedman said.
Wing Zone, based in Atlanta, was recently named to the 2019 Fast Casual Top 100 Movers & Shakers.
