Zytronic inks SoCal distibution deal

May 13, 2014

Zytronic, the specialist developer and manufacturer of large-form-factor projected capacitive touch sensor solutions for the self-service, digital signage, gaming, leisure and industrial markets, has further extended its sales channel in North America with the appointment of RD&D Sales Engineering as a manufacturer’s representative, the company announced today. While the agreement covers the complete Zytronic product range, RD&D is expected to focus on opportunities in the fast-growing market for projected capacitive touch sensors, according to the announcement.

Based in Southern California, RD&D supplies a range of active and passive electronic components ranging from semiconductors to LCDs. It offers application engineering in support of its sales function.

The Zytronic touchscreen technology available to the RD&D includes its PCT and MPCT projected capacitive touch sensors. The latter can detect 40 independent touch points through glass thicknesses of up to 12 mm, designed to be suited for deployments in public areas, touch-tables and even outdoor locations.

"North America is a global focal point for user interface development, and Zytronic is taking all possible steps to ensure we are in a position to provide the best support to this market," Zytronic Sales and Marketing Director Ian Crosby said in the announcement. "We welcome RD&D to our team and look forward to benefiting from the more than 25 years of technical sales experience that the company brings."
