WH Smith North America, a resort and airport specialty retailer, has partnered with iCleanse, a place-based media tech firm, to roll out self-service phone cleansing stations featuring digital signage across WHSNA and airport locations in the United States, according to a press release.

The iCleanse system uses UV-C to disinfect users' phones without chemicals in a 15-second cycle, during which users can view digital content on the provided screen.

"By partnering with iCleanse, we're showcasing our commitment to the well-being of both leisure and business travelers," Toby Keir, CEO of WH Smith North America, said in the release. "This partnership allows us to offer a unique, complimentary service that fosters community and instills peace of mind when traveling."

"Starting in the summer of 2024, visitors, employees, and travelers will have the opportunity to quickly and efficiently eliminate germs from their devices, without the use of chemicals or generating waste," Chris Allen, CEO at iCleanse, said in the release. "Additionally, this initiative presents a unique platform for brands and advertisers to enhance the traveler experience through our Swift UV units, creating a new way to connect with consumers on a meaningful level."
