They include an RS-232C connection that features read-in command control codes and send acknowledgement and allows for longer distance communication. The commercial LCD HDTVs also come equipped with an installation menu that offers a remote password to access the installation menu, front panel, channel and OSD remote lockouts, start volume, start channel, volume maximize/minimize and Forced Power On features.

The company's DPF series of digital photo frames ranges in size from 7-inches to 14-inches; in a press release, the company said the line is aimed at "any professional or retail environment" such as hotel check-in counters, restaurant reception desks and retail counters.

PumpTop TVThe DPF photo frames support individual slideshow or picture viewing, a variety of transitions for slideshows, variable speeds for slideshows and support for JPEG, AVI Motion JPEG, MPEG 1 and 4 files. The units auto-detect and display multiple picture orientation and offer random picture shuffle. Users can also set their favorite picture, and include save and delete functions. The lineup of frames also offers comprehensive memory card compatibility including CF I/II, MD, MS, MS Pro, MS Duo, MS Pro Duo, SD, MMC and XD.

Westinghouse also announced it had entered into an exclusive arrangement with AdtekMedia Inc., owner and operator of the gas station digital signage network PumpTop TV. The network, which uses dual 19-inch displays atop gasoline pumps, sells advertising space in a five-minute program of news, weather, sports, traffic and entertainment content.

"PumpTop TV is currently evaluating national and regional content providers for its network," the company said in a news release. "The near term roll out plan for PumpTop TV calls for expedited completion of the current build-out of the Los Angeles market, quickly followed by full entry into other key U.S. demographic markets including San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston."
